Donnie Wahlberg has the right stuff...and I really, really REALLY wish I had gone to Boston this weekend....
However, I will be arranging my flights back from MD to go to Tampa! I am going to see this tour, one way or the other...even if I have to fly to England to do it!
VH1 did a behind the music and they are showing the first 3 songs live!
So far, its been Single, and You got the right stuff....they jipped us on the 3rd song. |

Spider bites are quite possibly the most ugliest and itchiest thing I have ever experienced.
And the antibiotics they give you are a)HUGE and b) BLOODY EXPENSIVE.
They also make it difficult to turn your ankle due to the huge swollen bump. Wearing real shoes tomorrow is going to be fun. |

I got on the plane..it was 85 degrees in Orlando.
I got off the plane..it was 85 degrees in Baltimore...
WTF?
I'm loving this..and it WILL stay like this. If I couldn't have snow at Christmas when I was in Upstate NY, IT WILL NOT SNOW NOW! NO! NO! NO!
Anyway, I'm here..happily sitting in my hotel room, right across from NSA, so at least I know I'm safe...or my emails are being read..either way. Its all good, because I'm here.
Oh, and to note, all the baby shower stuff I had in my suitcase (you know, those contraband M&Ms and what not) did not cause my bag to be searched. My lipstick did. They thought it was a lighter. The TSA really scares me.
Anyway, its off to bed for me since I will be up the ass crack of dawn to drive to VA for my ntro to Pricing Class. *must not complain..its paid for the class* |

So apparently more than just a few little tornadoes hit Florida. They were category 2 or 3 depending on what news report you listen to. 19 people died.
It not only made national news, but it made international news as well. I got a text message from a friend in England asking if they were anyhere near me.
I guess I should pay more attention to things on the local news.
Apparently, this is just the start of the storm season and its an El Nino year..so I guess it means we may be in for more of these...
But..I did note that FEMA was out there within a few hours. The area was toured by the Goveneror and a Senator. I guess they are trying to make up for the fiascos after Katrina and the tornadoes at christmas. |

I was at a club in downtown Orlando. I was sent home with chocolate covered strawberries...its a good night. I wish I had someone to kiss..
But on a VERY happy note...I spent NYE at a party...I did not spend it as I have for the last 3 years.
I'm happy about that. |

As anyone who knows me (or reads this LJ), knows I'm a fan of the Backstreet Boys. The dedication I have to this is almost (but not quite) as strong as I have to faire. Would I miss a concert to go to faire? No...would I miss faire to go to a concert? Hell yes.
Kevin Richardson (the tall, dark haired one) is leaving. His reason..to pursue other interests. While he's entitled to do what he wants, he owes people more of an explaination..other than "its personal". Fans are the ones that put him where he is. He owes people more than that..
I called a friend who is Kevin fan. I didn't intend for my voice to sound like I was "gloating", apparently that is how it was intrepreted. I'm not calling her back to change this opinion. She is one of the obsessed Kevin fans...you all know the type...Kevin can do no wrong, and everything is Nick's fault. I guess I was a bit happy that its not Nick that left..its not like Kevin really sang lead on many of the songs..and its less fans that we'll have to fight for good seats...
Anyway, I think they'll continue and be successful..and whatever career path Kevin chooses, he'll always be knows as "former Backstreet Boy, Kevin Richardson". |

So, I'm buying a computer. The only thing that is a non negotiable is I want a laptop. I have been looking around at a couple different sites, and founda few that are interesting..
What brands would you NOT buy? What would you get? I currently have a Dell, and have had pretty good luck with it. While I don't really need a new computer, we have a PC Loan program at work, and I get get an interest free loan to get a computer, so I figured why not take advantage of it.
Note...HP was EXPENSIVE...even with the company discount. I have up to $ 2000 to spend, but I'd really rather not. Also, I REFUSE to buy a Compaq, all other brands are open.
I found one that I am leaning towards, but I want opinions of the techy folks out there. It will be used for working from home (nothing technical, just reading), email, net surfing, storing pics, downloading songs, etc.
So..suggest away! |

Cloudleap is getting paved today. As I didn't feel like moving my car last night, I decided I would move it this morning..and use it as an excuse to go into work early. I was here at 7. I'm not quite awake yet, and I am wearing my glasses...not entirely sure how long that will last, but we'll see.
In reading a friends journal, I saw a person who I thought I recognized, and being bored, I read through the journal. Turns out, its a guy from college...always good to see people you know from ages ago.
If you happen to talk to kimrae6 wish her a happy birthday!
Well, at least I will make up time so I can justify leaving early on Friday. Lets hope the rest of the week cooperates...and work stays as semi quiet as it is. I can almost see the top of my desk, so I am going get rid of the last to be filed pile..then tackle the data entry if the PM's ever get back to me on what needs to go in. |

My mom turns 60 March 22. I need to come up with a gift for her and I have not a clue.
I have ruled out concert/play tickets (there isn't anything playing that she would be interested in), jewelery (she doesn't need anything else-her boyfriend has gotten her everything she could possibly ever want or need)...she doesn't understand electronics so that is out.
My uncle was thinking of getting her a vacation gift certificate..I am leaning towards a spa day as she has mentioned she has never gotten a manicure, pedicure etc...a mother daughter spa day might be fun...
any suggestions might would be greatly appreciated....one thing..it has to be something that is in Charlotte, NC |

I still don't have a phone. I still can't access the online payroll system, or the system to check on benefits, etc. BUT the vending machines have arrived...and we have COOKIE CRACK in them...well, granted its not the original cookie crack, but its pretty darn close...
this is going to be a good place to work..well, back to reading. |

So its my second to last week at my job...and I'm not working...
Monday was a holiday..Tuesday I took cordelya_wylde to have her wisdom teeth yanked out..Wednesday-I'm at work, though we "closed" 17 minutes ago (DOE closed at 2 so the people could get out of DC before all circus, I mean inauguration crap starts), Thursday-closed for said inaugural crap, and Friday I'm working.
I don't fancy driving home in all the crap. Its not that i can't drive (I grew up in a snow belt, with a birthday in February so I learned how to drive in the crap), its all the other idiots out there that don't have a clue.
So the beach this weekend...a wonderful group of people, with one notable execption who will never set foot in the house again. The kicking to the curb will commence shortly...hopefully by that point he will have a clue.
Ok..off to face the snowy beltway..be safe everyone! |
